Zehnder
In 1895 Zehnder’s founder Jakob Zehnder began developing motorcycles in Switzerland called the Zehnderli. In 1925 Zehnder’s reputation was cemented when in the great Swiss reliability trial, which pitted all entrants against strenuous mountain courses, all 7 of the Zehnderli motorcycles earned gold medals.
In 1930 Zehnder saw the possibilities of his metal work and using his patented steel tube used for his motorcycles he began to experiment in creating radiators, which lead to the very first ‘Multicolumn’ radiator the world had seen. By using steel to produce them, the Zehnder column radiator was three times lighter than cast iron, and boasted a straighter, clean appearance which was immensely popular. Even today the appearance of the Multicolumn closely resembles that of the original!
Throughout the rest of the 20th century Zehnder innovated time and time again, creating new designs, expanding its manufacturing into France, Poland and Germany, and acquiring the designer brand Bisque in 2007. Zehnder is now the most experienced high quality manufacturer of designer radiators, making designs that work beautifully in homes, new builds and commercial renovations.
Zehnder has a highly esteemed team of designers working with them, including highly reputable names like Paolo Schianchi, Claudio Colucci, Perry King and Santiago Miranda. The inspiration of these creators, combined with Zehnder’s vision, has led to many highly coveted design awards won throughout Europe. Zehnder are truly at the forefront of radiator manufacturing quality and stimulating design.
The Zehnder range travels seamlessly from traditional column radiators in stunning finishes that the brand made their name on, to gorgeously modern and clean angular designs and even a large selection of electric only products. All products share one quality, the beautiful and carefully considered design and construction Zehnder is best known for. A key feature of Zehnder’s range is their cohesiveness in design; a good number of their products are available in vertical and horizontal versions with a complementing towel radiator counterpart to match, ensuring any room in the home can be adorned with a Zehnder radiator. The vast majority of Zehnder radiators can be specially made in a huge variety of RAL colours and finishes so any taste or design can be catered to by Zehnder. We think this brand is one of the best around for their wealth of style, size, finish and design options.
